Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can this macerator be used with just a sink?
A. Yes this can be used with just a sink, but cannot be used with 22mm pipework. The pipework should be 32 or 40mm
Q. What is the size of the outlet?
A. The outlet is either 32mm or 40mm
Q. What is the decibel rating?
A. Approx 58 decibels and the motor will run for 10-20 seconds
Q. What are the external measurements?
A. Height 26cms, Width 41cms, Depth 19cms
Q. Do I need to fit the non return valve whether the discharge pipe is fitted horizontally or vertically?
A. Yes - we recommend the non return valve is fitted in every instance to ensure no water flows back into the macerator (it should be as close to the macerator as possible ideally butted up against the outlet on the macerator with the arrow on the side of the valve pointing away from the machine
Q. The unit won't switch itself off?
A. 1/ Has the non return valve been fitted otherwise water will keep flowing back into the macerator and switching it on? 2/ Has the non return valve been fitted the correct way round with the arrow pointingaway from the machine - otherwise water has no where to go but back into the machine?
Q. The unit is leaking?
A. 1/ Are all the blanking caps in place and all jubilee clips done up tightly? 2/ Has 32mm or 40mm discharge pipe been used? (if smaller this will create a 'backflow' and damager the macerator)
Q. The macerator works in 3 or 4 short bursts?
A. Hold the override switch on the top of the machine down for 30 seconds - this should reset the machine
Q. The unit only works wen the override switch is held down?
A. Hold the override switch down for at least 30 seconds - this should reset the machine
Q. The macerator won't clear the shower?
A. Is there a drop in the waste pipe between the shower outlet and the macerator inlet of at least 1cm per metre so the water flows into the macerator from the shower by gravity?
Q. The macerator won't work at all and never has?
A. 1/ Has the macerator been wired to a fused connection unit by a qualified person? (otherwise the warranty is not valid?) 2/ Check the fuses
Q. The unit worked at first but now nothing happens?
A. 1/ Has the right size outlet pipe been used? i.e. 1 1/4 or 1 1/2" plastic waste pipe (if smaller is used this will force the water through a smaller bore pipe and damage the unit) 2/ If correct size pipe has been used hold the override switch down for 30 seconds to reset the machine 3/ Check the fuses
