Taps have become very much a luxury item where consumers are buying based completely on looks however be sure to select taps that are both robust and ensure that purchase is for the long term. Check that your kitchen or bathroom taps have warranties in place. Also be sure that you make the correct selection with tap fittings.

TIP: When buying taps, ensure that the tap has high quality chrome plating and has a UK standard brass for use. Good quality taps will avoid long term problems!

Some of the taps imported are not compatible with UK markets so again be careful when making your selection of bathroom and kitchen taps to check they have the correct inlets for water pressure. If they are small inlets, the taps will work correctly on mains pressure however may have difficulty connecting to a low pressue supply.

When selecting your taps, establish whether you require quarter turn taps or your standard which requires multiple turns to tighten the tap. Quarter turn taps utilise ceramic cartridges which are very long lasting and can operate in both kitchen and bathroom taps.

Above highlights the taps for hot and cold independent taps. Another option is mixer taps which utilise a single control (usually a lever) to control the flow of water and the temperature. Dependent on whether your tap is a kitchen or bathroom tap, your tap may also have a pop up waste hole to control the plug in the bathroom sink.

In terms of mounting these taps, you are able to either mount the tap on the deck/base, on te wall or directly onto the sink. This is dependent on which tap you have purchased or are looking to purchase.

Monobloc Taps

Monobloc taps utilise a single control and spout to control the flow of water and the temperature of the water. Monobloc kitchen and bathroom taps are now an extremely popular source for customers due to convenience and their economical pricing.

Hot and Cold Taps

Hot and cold taps are still very much common within bathroom taps. Generally for new builds customers make use of monobloc taps however for those who currently have 2 holes in their sinks for taps, this is a common purchase.

Kitchen Spray Taps

Kitchen spray taps are great for practical purposes such as washing the dishes or spraying down areas that conventional kitchen taps simply cannot reach. The kitchen spray tap uses a hose connected to the spout which can be pulled out and aim at the desired area. Generally, the controls for the kitchen tap are using a monobloc method.

Single Lever Mixer Taps

Single lever mixer taps are a more common word for monobloc taps and use one single spout and one control for yor complete flow of water from your taps.
